Artist and graphic novel illustrator Jillian Tamaki was commissioned by Penguin Books last year to create Penguin Threads Deluxe Classics, a series of fantastic embroidered book covers that were then mass produced in a way that closely mimics the original stitching. Click the links to see more.

During the recent school holidays the Embroiderers’ Guild of South Australia held a free workshop in the library for children aged 8 years and over. The guild members patiently and expertly taught their skills to the young participants, many of whom were doing embroidery for the first time.
All participants produced a small bag using a variety of materials, decorations and embroidery techniques. The results were lovely and the children were very proud of their finished bags. A big thank you to the Embroiderers’ Guild for the time and effort they put into making this such a successful workshop.
