More Connected Seniors

This year in the Library we have been running a new program called Telstra Connected Seniors. This program has included several different sessions that have allowed us to introduce seniors to being able to use their mobile phones and the Internet.

These classes have been extremely popular – so popular that we have decided to put on an extra session of “Introduction to mobile phones”. In this class we will show you how to use your mobile phone, covering topics like:

  • adding a contact to your phone
  • sending a text message
  • making a phone call

Or perhaps you would like to learn how to do something a little more advanced like take photos!
We encourage you to bring along your questions and we will do our best to answer them all. This session will be held on Tuesday 9 October, a three-hour class that will run from 1:30 – 4:30pm. Places are limited so please book now by ringing the library on 8397 7333.

Upcoming events at the Library

Our annual Readers Festival has arrived again, so we’ve got some exciting events lined up this week. Bring the kids to an ABC Time performance, meet SA author Stephen Orr (left) at a special evening event, or learn about the ‘history of history’ in a fascinating talk by our Local History Officer.

We also have another Connected Seniors event coming up on Wednesday 8 August  called ‘Your Internet Questions Answered’. If you are interested in this informative session (or know someone who might be),  come along and master the basics of using the Internet.

Details of all events can be found on our website. Click the link to find out more, or call the Library on 8397 7333 to make a booking.

Connected Seniors at the Library

We are still running Telstra Connected Seniors sessions in the Library. These sessions are designed to help you use your mobile phone – from turning it off and on, to taking pictures and loading them onto the computer.

These sessions have gotten off to a great start! Participants have been very eager to learn how to use their mobiles, connect with loved ones and take pictures. All the sessions have been well received with the public wanting more.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would  be interested in,  see our brochure. Once you decide which class best suits you, book through the library on 8397 7333.

Connected Seniors

The Library is running a brand-new program in 2012 called Connected Seniors. The program is divided up into multiple sessions which are running throughout the year, and is designed for seniors who would like to learn about using mobile phones and the Internet. Our first session, a 2-part introduction to mobile phones, was held in April and a lot of fun was had by all!

Next week we are running a session called ‘Taking pictures on your mobile phone’. If you or someone you know would like to learn how to use the camera on a mobile phone, as well as what to do with the photos once you’ve taken them, call the Library on 8397 7333 and book now.

Date: Thursday 31 May
Time: 10:30am – 12:30pm
Location: Library Training Room
