The Slap

The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas, has been one of the most popular and controversial reads of the last few years, an Australian story of the events that unfold after a man slaps a child during a backyard BBQ. This novel has now been made into a TV mini series, starting tomorrow night. According to The Australian newspaper, “The novel was a phenomenal success for a work of literary fiction, selling 200,000 copies in Australia and a further 600,000 overseas. It won the Commonwealth Writers Prize and was long-listed for the Booker Prize.”
