Damaged Items

On display in the Library for the next month will be a collection of items that have been damaged while on loan. The Library receives many returned items in damaged condition; ripped, torn, soggy, wrinkled, water-marked, soiled, mouldy, scribbled, graffitied, chewed … so we’d thought we’d show-case them just to show how ugly it gets.

Damage is usually not deliberate, but accidents happen; drinks get spilt, inquisitive children chew on paperback literature and cats pass their own unique editorial comment. Sorting through the mess keeps us busy! So come on down, have a look, and make a donation to the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal while you are here .. and if you have damaged library items in your care, you can get the fees waived for a limited time through the Library Amnesty.
