It is with great excitement that we announce the impending arrival of Blu-ray discs to the City of Tea Tree Gully Library. With an expectant launch date of mid June, the Library is well and truly in the grip of Blu-ray fever as we prepare for this new and exciting addition to our collection.

What is Blu-ray and what does it mean for you? Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray disc, is the name of a next generation optical disc format. The format offers more than five times the storage capacity of traditional DVDs and enables the recording, rewriting and playback of high definition video (HD). Why blu–ray over standard DVDs you might ask? The simple answer is HDTV. If you have ever seen high definition video on an HDTV, then you know just how incredibly sharp the picture is and how incredibly vivid the colours are. In fact HD offers five times the amount of detail compared to standard definition (SD). So, with one of our Blu-ray discs, a Blu-ray player and a HDTV you can have the ultimate HD experience.
