Halloween at the library

Halloween 1

Count Radula and Kathy the Wicked Witch of the Northeast provide reference help for all ghouls and goblins (and regular patrons too)

Halloween fell on a Saturday this year, and library staff used the opportunity to ‘spook up’ – dressing in some fantastic All Hallow’s Eve themed costumes and decorating the library desk.

Halloween2

Pamhilda, Good Witch of the Northeast ready to take a query.

Whilst vampires and witches fielded reference queries, borrowers were met with black cats, bats, pumpkins and an array of scary sorts behind the customer service desk!

Halloween3

Carly the Moggy ready to serve (after preening of course, and perhaps a nap)

The library has an assortment of resources on myths, magic, scary party ideas, and foods for your next Halloween event!

  1. It was a great day, all staff made an effort to dress up, which was fantastic.

Book displays on the day included items from EVERY part of the collection, from Picture books, to Graphic Novels, to Non-Fiction and even DVDs!

There were Colour-Ins for the kids and Sweet Treats were available at both ther Customer Service and Information Desks.

I was really pleased with how it all came together in the end, considering it was in impulse idea on my part.

    • I happened to come into the library on the day and it certainly brought a ‘smile to my dial’ and I know it did a lot of other people. I certainly went home and to work the next day and told everyone about it!
