Janet Evanovichpublished her first book, a romance tale called ‘Hero at Large’ in 1987 under the pseudonym Steffie Hall. She learned to write dialogue by attending improvisation acting courses, building a steady following with her humourous romance books. After realising that she wanted to pursue a slightly different genre she took an 18 month hiatus she returned to writing with the launch of her Stephanie Plum romance action series in 1994 with ‘One for the Money’. Stephanie Plum is a female bounty hunter who choose the career after losing her job as a lingerie buyer. There have since been fifteen Stephanie Plum novels, the latest being Finger Lickin’ Fifteen which is due for release in the next couple of months, and a few novellas featuring the barely-competent bounty hunter.
